Cookie policy

In short, and without the legalese: until you click in the cookie bar yourself, this website doesn’t track you.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Most of the time, they let it remember the choices you’ve made. Sometimes they’re used to measure traffic or to target ads.

How it works on this website

Until you click in the cookie bar, no cookie is stored in your browser. Not even the one that remembers your choice: that one is created only by your click. Until then, analytics and marketing scripts don’t load at all, so they have no way to write anything.

If you decline consent, the website remembers only that you declined. Otherwise the bar would ask you every time a page loads. After five days, it asks again.

What the website runs with your consent

If you consent to the analytics category, two tools start. Google Analytics 4 shows in aggregate how many people came to the website, which articles they read, and how they got here. Microsoft Clarity records how the page is used: where people click, how far they scroll, and where the website gets stuck. Microsoft automatically masks any text typed into form fields. Neither tool tells me who you are. What I get from them is numbers, not names.

If you allow marketing cookies, four tracking tags load: Google Ads for ads in Google Search, Meta Pixel for ads on Facebook and Instagram, Microsoft Advertising UET for Bing, and Sklik retargeting from Seznam.cz, a Czech search engine. They all serve the same purpose: to let me see whether a paid ad was worth it, and to reach someone again who was interested in the content. Without consent, none of them loads.

Which cookies may be stored

Cookie Category How long it lasts What it’s for
cc_consent necessary 365 days if you allow anything, 5 days if you reject everything Remembers what you decided about cookies, so the bar doesn’t ask you again every time.
_ga analytics 2 years Google Analytics: tells individual visitors apart.
_ga_YKWTGZXEN7 analytics 2 years Google Analytics: recognizes that it’s still the same visit.
_clck, _clsk analytics 1 year / 1 day Microsoft Clarity: ties clicks and scrolling together into a single visit.
_gcl_au, and possibly _gcl_aw marketing 3 months Google Ads: recognizes that you came from an ad in Google Search and links it to a consultation booking.
IDE (doubleclick.net) marketing 13 months Google Ads: a third-party cookie on a Google domain that measures ads and conversions. It’s stored only where your browser allows third-party cookies.
_uetsid, _uetvid marketing 1 day / 13 months Microsoft Advertising: measures the results of ads on Bing.
_fbp, and possibly _fbc marketing 3 months Meta Pixel: recognizes a return visit from an ad on Facebook or Instagram.
sid, ssid (seznam.cz) marketing per Seznam’s settings Sklik retargeting: measures ads on Seznam and makes it possible to reach a visitor again.

The analytics cookies belong to Google and Microsoft; the marketing cookies belong to Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Seznam. They’re stored only after you consent to the relevant category. Without that consent, none of them is stored.

What you won’t find here

You won’t find anything from outside services here: no embedded videos or players. The only exception is the booking calendar, which loads only when you click on it yourself. Until you click the button, nothing loads from it and no third-party cookie is created. These are exactly the things that usually bring third-party cookies onto a website. Since they aren’t here, neither are their cookies. There’s no contact form either; you can reach me by email or on WhatsApp.

The only field you type anything into here is the blog search, and it works without cookies. When you type a query, it’s sent to my server on Cloudflare, where a model evaluates it and returns matching articles. I don’t save it in any database. The query is part of the URL, though, so it stays in Cloudflare’s operational logs, just like any other page you visit.

How to change or withdraw your choice

You can do it at any time. Click Cookie settings in the website footer, the same bar opens, and you decide again. Withdrawing consent is just as easy as giving it, and the analytics cookies are deleted from your browser right away. You can also delete them yourself in your browser settings.
